Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! For our Father's Day weekend, we started Saturday off with a birthday party at the park where E and T got to spend quality time together playing outdoor games.
Then it was onto Summer Solstice at Tait Farm. It was a nice event with local vendors and products. We picked up some fresh lettuce and a lemon vinaigrette that we are going to use for salads today. I'm going to include seared scallops and strawberries in my salad. T will be going for the more plain ham and green peppers. E, of course, will be opting out and having PB&J.
This morning when we woke up, we took Tom out to breakfast at Cafe on the Park for Father's Day. Food was terrific but in hindsight, we probably should have taken one of the outdoor tables. That would have been nice today.
After breakfast, we made the weekend trip to Lowe's for our final bag of soil for the raised vegetable garden and to pick out some vegetables to plant. We went with onions, green beans, tomatoes, green peppers and lettuce. I also included an area for herbs but only planted mint so far. Here's to hoping this year's raised garden goes better than last year's container gardens :)
It will be a busy week coming up as we are only working for 3.5 days before we leave for NY to go camping with Margaret, Jeremy and Lily. I can't wait for noon on Thursday!
